Is it okay to put Neosporin cream on a lip piercing?

I was just wondering because I heard it's okay and please keep in mind that this isnt the jelly type Neosporin and that it's the cream kind.Is it okay to put Neosporin cream on a lip piercing?
When I got my navel pierced, they said not to use Neosporin at all. It will help the piercing heal too much - you want the hole to remain, not for skin to heal around the ring! I imagine this recommendation would go doubly for a lip piercing, since I don't believe you should ingest Neosporin, and having it that close to your mouth could be dangerous.

If you need to clean the piercing, get a really cheap brand of saline solution (the kind for contacts) and rinse the lip ring with it daily. Also, rotate the ring daily to make sure you can still move it, but don't play with it more than that or you could irritate it.

Good luck!Is it okay to put Neosporin cream on a lip piercing?
It certainly cannot hurt you! It's an antibiotic, and one of the oldest and best! However, if it's oozing puss or something, you better skip it and go to ER!
